As founder and Chief Executive Officer of New Pathway Education & Technology Group in Shanghai, Sam M. Hwang brings a solid background in entrepreneurship and engineering to his work, along with a demonstrated record preparing students for success at some of the top universities worldwide. At the helm of New Pathway since 2009, Mr. Hwang founded his business to ready high school students for the SAT I, though soon expanded its mission to include K-6 English Education and various boarding school and college admissions consulting services. Since then, Sam M. Hwang’s company has launched new campuses in Shanghai, Beijing, and Boston; built a strong online presence; and helped more than 300 high school students in China alone achieve scores of 2300 or higher on the SAT. With a philosophy that positive social change begins with a high-quality education and continues outside of the classroom, Sam M. Hwang and his colleagues at New Pathway provide opportunities that develop both accomplished and well-rounded students. Prior to the formation of New Pathway, Sam M. Hwang spent seven years in undergraduate and, later, graduate coursework at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In tandem with his studies, Sam M. Hwang served as a Technical Specialist for a leading intellectual property law firm, Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett and Dunner LLP; interned at the Harvard Law School Berkman Center for Internet & Society; and worked as a Research Assistant in multiple labs at MIT. Among his numerous academic achievements, Sam M. Hwang took first place in the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Society competition at MIT, was selected to join the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and contributed research toward articles in Science, among other peer-reviewed publications.
