Sarah Draugelis

Sarah Draugelis is originally from the Detroit area and began her ballet training at the age of six. She studied summers at the American Ballet Theater, the Joffrey Ballet School, Burklyn Ballet Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and the Boston Ballet, among others. Immediately following graduation from the Virginia School of the Arts, she continued dancing in New York with the Joffrey School and the Dance Theater of Harlem. After an unsolved injury forced her to retire early, Draugelis went to study at Wayne State University as a premedical student, publishing her research in psychosocial predictors of well-being in dancers. She used her time as a university student to train, and has since successfully returned to the field of professional dance. Sarah also enjoys working annually in volunteer medical clinics in Haiti, and is currently implementing a newly developed electronic medical records system into these transient clinics.
