Steven Whitaker

Steven “PJ” Whitaker, Jr., a born and bred New Yorker, began his love affair with music at age 11 where he honed his skill to know “what the people wanted” as a DJ. PJ took a different approach to where music would take him, when he majored in Computer Science at Syracuse University. While at Syracuse, he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. which gave him the opportunity to develop the skills for what would become his career path—marketing. After college, PJ used his skills learned from marketing community service projects, chapter events, and parties into online promotions, but he was still drawn towards music like a moth to a flame.

He was welcomed by Neil Levine to join the staff of Imperial Records and Capitol Music Group. While at Imperial Records, he enjoyed numerous successes working with music industry heavy hitters such as Fat Joe, Rasheeda, Anthony Hamilton, Mims, J. Holiday. After Capitol Music Group, PJ worked as a consult for Sony/BMG and EMI Music Groups in the Marketing and A&R; departments. Soon after became the Vice President of a music/content label called Couture Music which was founded by industry maven JoJo Brim; Couture Music works with Warner Music Group and KWL (Kevin Liles) Enterprises with their music projects and other indie projects as well. Since leaving Couture Music group, PJ was the Marketing Director and now serves as the Director of A&R; at iStandardProducers.com. With iStandard, PJ manages a diverse and driven team to ensure that there is continual increase in the website presence and at showcase performances.

Simply not content with internet presence, high website traffic, and showcases, PJ has found some of the new up and coming producers and artists; PJ works closely with the newly found talents to help them to break into the music business. Wearing many hats, PJ also consults for a local New York City nightclub called REBEL NYC (Club Rebel). At REBEL, PJ uses a mix of his marketing and music background, marketing the parties and spearheading a connection with artist/dj bookings. He represents—with a management team—multi-platinum artists/producers/djs Mannie Fresh, Large Professor, and Mr. Lee. In spite of not being on the front lines, PJ continues to work his magic that has brought him many accomplishments and ability to work with artist and brands like: Trey Songz, Musiq Soulchild, Kid Daytona, Yelawolf, SlaughterHouse, Freddy Gibbs, Dem Franchise Boyz, Avant, Cherish, Ed Hardy Vodka,
