Michael Schlup

Michael Schlup began developing, managing, and leasing property in the Kansas City, Missouri, area nearly 30 years ago. During the course of his career, he has owned and developed more than 2.5 million square feet of commercial and residential real estate. Currently, Michael Schlup owns and operates Carson Development, Inc., in Overland Park, Kansas, and he holds general contractor’s licenses in Kansas and Hawaii as well as specialty certifications in heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC); plumbing; and electrical systems. He also maintains experience in all stages of the land development process, from initial financing and city approval procurement to site excavation and construction of utilities and streets.

Michael Schlup started developing residential subdivisions in several Kansas City, Missouri, suburbs in the mid-1980s. From 1985 to 1990, he built and sold roughly 1,000 single-family homes ranging in value from $80,000 to $110,000 apiece. He went on to develop, manage, and handle leasing for two townhome complexes in Lees Summit, Missouri, and a 75-unit apartment facility in Blue Springs, Missouri. From 1994 to 1996, Michael Schlup led development of the upscale Deerbrooke Commercial Center in Lees Summit. Following this commercial project, he managed construction of the multifamily housing subdivision English Gardens and the Village Garden Townhomes property, both located in Olathe, Kansas. From 2000 to 2008, he oversaw the Metcalf Project, a 155-acre development consisting of a housing subdivision, apartment and townhome complexes, a retirement community, and a commercial space.

In recent years, Michael Schlup has largely focused on commercial/retail projects. From 2007 to 2012, he built, managed, and leased the Southridge Retail Center of Overland Park. Currently, he focuses on completing phase two of the Corbin Park high-end shopping center in Overland Park. The 1.1-million-square-foot Corbin Park property features Tuscan-inspired architecture and a wide range of upscale shops and stores.
