Hi, my name’s Shawn Scarber Deggans.

I normally write my fiction under the name Shawn Scarber. I’ve written fiction and nonfiction that has appeared in magazines and collections. Most of what I’ve written has been short science fiction and fantasy. I continue to focus on shorter works as I define my voice and build a readership. I was lucky enough to attend Clarion West Writers Workshop in 2006 and I’m an active member of the DFW Writers’ Workshop here in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX.

In my professional career I’ve been a web developer since 1998 and now specialize in Microsoft .NET technologies, though I’m experimenting more with Ruby and other technologies. The modern webstack is moving more into a mixed bag of technologies, so I want my toolbox to reflect that. I’m also working on a few small SaaS apps to help with social media promotion. In 2012 I founded Bastet International as a new media publishing start up. I’m still in the process of researching niches and understanding the startup world. I hope to one day create a product or service that sees some financial success. My 12 year old daughter and I have started a game development division of the company and are now in the early stage development of a side-scroller based on her artwork.
