Stay at my place

Learning is in my DNA; I am passionate about self-education and sharing knowledge. My career path has led me from teacher to international school principal, education consultant to University lecturer, and museum educator to freelance writer. Currently I am researching and writing a book about 'Baby-boomers', focussing on how my generation might use the next 30 years in creative and productive ways. The book has broad scope which includes the science behind keeping physically fit and mentally active. I also play guitar in a rock band, ride a Ducati ST3 motorbike and am an advocate for sustainable enterprises.

I've lived in Europe, Singapore, Egypt, Kenya and Australia which has helped shape an insightful view of the world and gain many international, multicultural friends. Climbing mountains provides great personal fulfilment. I am happiest when climbing at high altitude; Mt Kinabalu (Sabah), the ABC trek (Nepal) and Mt Kenya are my favourite peaks. Among other great joys in life is seeing my children develop into confident, successful and gregarious young adults.

My guiding principle about the power of lifelong learning is borrowed from Gandhi who declared, "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever." And that's the mantra I'm attempting to follow. I am happy to connect with kindred spirits who share any of my diverse interests tagged below.
