Sirapat Boonkrong
Associate Professor Dr.Sirapat Boonkrong got his education (high school, Bachelor and Ph.D.) from the UK, specifically at the University of Bath (for the higher education). His Ph.D. thesis was titled "Authenticaion, Pre-Handoff and Handoff in Pure MANET", for which he received the Dissertation Award from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT).
After receiving his Ph.D. in computer science, he came back to his home country, Thailand, to begin his career as a researcher at NECTEC. At the same time, due to his expertise in networking and security, Dr.Boonkrong was invited as a guest lecturer at a couple of universities. By then he realised that teaching would be the way to go, as he would like to spread his expertise and knowledge to more people. That was why he decided to leave his full-time research career behind.
Now, Associate Professor Dr.Sirapat Boonkrong has been a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) mainly teaching in the field of information and computer network security to both Master and Ph.D. students. He is also holding a management position at the Faculty. He is currently an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research and is also an acting head of the Department of Data Communication and Networking. Even though Dr.Boonkrong has left NECTEC to pursue his career in education, he is still an active researcher, who is still publishing papers in the areas of information and computer network security.
Dr.Sirapat Boonkrong is now happily married to his wife "Namwaan". During his free time, Dr.Boonkrong enjoys travelling with his wife and friends, which seems to suit his hobby in collecting postcards and photography quite well.
