Married to the love of my life, Dr. Lisa Mosconi. We live in the Bronx with our daughter, some gardens and trees, some fish in a pond, and the coyotes that eat them.

In the early 2000s that revolved around pioneering work in location-based services and location-based games, founding Area/Code Entertainment, which was acquired to become the New York Office of Zynga.
Between 2013 and 2017 I ran a research group as tenure-track faculty at the MIT Media Lab. With colleagues there, we did some of the earliest work in the field of environmental microbial sensing and detection.
Since 2020, I worked to successfully commercialize efforts around genomic surveillance for public health, the private sector, and national security. Included a few years at Ginkgo Biosecurity.
In 2026, together with the former Chief Medical Officer of the CDC Mitch Wolfe, I founded Fairfield Bio.
Along the way, I've been the founding and former Chief Science and Technology Officer for the Shed and the founding and contributing editor, for the MIT Press Journal of Design and Science. I was on the Board of Trustees at Cooper Union for eight years, including several years as Vice Chair.
I also co-founded Everybody at Once with Kenyatta Cheese and Collective Decision Engines with Glen Weyl and team.
Invested in Pienso, Timehop, Makers Row, Burner, Poplar (acquired). Advisor to Electric Objects, Godot Energy, and Innovid (IPO). Consulting at large.
Taught at NYU/ITP, MIT, Cooper Union, Fabrica.
