New Orleans LA

I have studied French since high school, and finished my Bachelor`s and Master`s in French. I have also taken numerous trips to Europe for the purpose of improving my language ability as well as my knowledge of culture. I started tutoring French in college as an undergraduate, then I went on to give leisure courses, adult continuing education, during my graduate years. I got my first overseas teaching job at the JET Programme, teaching ESL as a Assistant Language Teacher in Japanese junior high schools in Yokohama for one year. From my return to the US, I continued to teach, both private lessons and at the university level in New Orleans. I got my first formal French teaching job at a high school in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina displaced me to Houston. In Houston I spent the following 6 years teaching ESL in a private institution. There, I prepared students for IELTS, TOEFL, GRE and academic writing, speech, reading comprehension, and so on. I returned to Japan to teach English at a private language school in Tsuchiura for 2 years. I am now completely freelance, teaching private lessons and giving tours in the historic French Quarter. I enjoy reading, both in French and in English. I read both for pleasure as for the purpose of enhancing my language skills. It helps me retain vocabulary and enhance expression. I also love museums and doing yoga. Availability: Since I am freelance my days are free for giving lessons. I am mostly available except for the evenings when I have a tour to give. I can offer formal language lessons,or tutoring, English, ESL, basic conversation, formal writing, speech, test preparation and basic French lessons.
