I hold a Master’s degree in Community and Cultural Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a Doctorate in Cross-Cultural Psychology from Victoria University of Wellington New Zealand. My primary research relates to how people adapt in inter-cultural contact, and more specifically, to evaluating well-being outcomes of participation in traditional ethnocultural arts. I am also a musician and composer who has worked for the past 15 years creating music for film and television in Hawaii, including a number of projects for PBS Hawaii and for the Biographical Research Center at UH Manoa. I currently teach psychology at Hawaii Pacific University and UH Maui College. I continue to research benefits of arts participation and I am writing a textbook on Cultural Psychology.
