A former officer in the NYPD, Steven Contino retired in 2003 as a detective sergeant after 22 years on the force. He received several accolades for his service, including the Brooklyn North Detectives Achievement Award and the Police Commissioner’s Achievement Award. Currently, Steven Contino leverages his investigative skills toward his work as the principal investigator for The Black Car Fund on Wall Street. Before starting his career, Steven Contino attended Queens College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on a full basketball scholarship. He received his B.A. in physical education before working towards his master’s degree at Adelphi University. Contino is passionate about children and teaching, serving as an assistant principal at a high school in Brooklyn. Outside of work, Contino is passionate about coaching youth baseball and basketball. In the past, he has volunteered with kids in the Ozone Howard Little League and the Nativity Catholic Youth Organization. He is a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials and the Coaches vs. Cancer, New York Chapter. In his spare time, Contino enjoys working out, watching Giants games with his daughter, and going to his son’s college baseball games.
