Ranked by Euromoney as a leading capital markets and international transactions lawyer, Steven Guynn regularly leads transactions in excess of $100 million for domestic and international clients. He represents corporations, financial advisors, and private equity firms in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Steven Guynn has facilitated more than $150 billion in transactions and is an advisor to corporate executives and boards of directors. Focusing on public and private mergers and acquisitions, sovereign wealth fund investments, private equity investments, restructurings, and debt and equity capital markets transactions, he has advised clients in an array of industries.

Steven Guynn has represented financial institutions, energy firms, and multinational corporations. In recent years, he provided advice on Kuwait Investment Authority's $3 billion investment in Citigroup's preferred stock and facilitated the firm's $4 billion co-investment in the Dow Chemical Company. Mr. Guynn advised Oil Insurance Group of which covers more than $2 trillion in insured assets, and OIL Casualty Insurance, Ltd; both are mutually owned by the world's leading energy companies.

Within the energy sector, Steven Guynn also represented Total S.A. of France in two major mergers, including its $11 billion merger with PetroFina and its $49 billion merger with Elf Aquitaine. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, these mergers ultimately led to the creation of the fourth largest oil group in the world. Mr. Guynn has also negotiated numerous transactions for Lazard Capital Markets and Lazard Frères & Co., coordinated an international joint venture for Bed Bath & Beyond, and led a merger between Crédit Agricole S.A. and Crédit Lyonnais S.A. in France.

Steven Guynn has served as a partner in King & Spalding's and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher's New York office and as a partner in the London and New York offices of Jones Day. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was Notes Editor of the Virginia Law Review, and completed his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University with Highest Honors and was the Valedictorian of his college.
