Sumedha Upadhyaya

I love to travel, having visited over 15 countries, and live by the following quote - “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.” I once went underwater diving at Pattaya, Thailand, with only a fish bowl on my head as protection!

This is also the reason why I took up a job at MakeMyTrip.com, India’s largest online travel site. At MakeMyTrip, my role of a QA Engineer allows me to work on the website in collaboration with cross-functional teams including, but not limited to, engineering, product development, business development and marketing. Regularly developing ideas for a better user experience and working closely with the product team has not only taught me much about the travel industry but also inspired an interest in product and brand management. I am now eager to pursue this interest professionally so that I may exploit my innate flair for analysis, understanding consumer mindset and thinking strategically.

Combining my interest in the travel domain with a strong passion for women’s empowerment, in the long-term, I want to set up an internet based venture that serves the needs of solo women travellers in the nascent Indian travel sector.
