Susan Green

After almost 25 years working as a Producer, Executive Producer and Managing Editor in Newsrooms in Phoenix, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and New York City, I was finally lured away to academia to help launch Cronkite News Service at the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. As Broadcast Director I am in charge of content, and creating partnerships with clients looking for content.

Also, that job extended to Assistant News Director for the award winning Cronkite Newswatch. I am now in charge of helping to cover content statewide and am responsible for helping students produce our Cronkite Newswatch en Espanol show that airs on Univision.

While expanding my knowledge base in academia, I was also asked to serve as a member of the national boards of NLGJA, National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, and the national board of Unity: Journalists for Diversity. I have also been asked by the U.S. State Department to teach diversity to working journalists in Serbia.

All these experiences over the years have taught me to think fast on my feet, to be creative, to be willing to try anything once, and not to be afraid of failure, because as long as you are falling forward .. at least you are progressing! I know what audiences like and don’t like. And all these experiences have taught me to recognize trends before others.

At Pretty Smart Women, our company slogan is ‘Idea Generators. Content Creators.’ I have been called an idea machine, and it’s because I am constantly listening, looking for ideas, experiencing new things, and always searching for different ways to tell a story or communicate an idea to the community, whichever community that is.
