Stephen B Whatley specialises in expressionist oil paintings. Noted for his unique spontaneous work on location. His work is in private collections worldwide; & in public collections including BBC Heritage , Historic Royal Palaces, London Transport Museum, The Royal Collection, & The Carrollton School of The Sacred Heart, Miami, USA. His exhibitions include shows at London's National Theatre, ICA, Olympia International Fine Art & Antiques Fair & London's Westminster Cathedral. Major commissions include architectural paintings for the BBC; paintings of Buckingham Palace to promote the summer opening of the State Rooms (reproduced on London Underground posters two years running) & a series of 30 paintings for the Tower of London - all permanently reproduced throughout Tower Hill Underpass at Tower Hill, London. He was presented to HM Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of this work. As a portrait painter he has painted numerous public figures including stars of stage & screen. Press includes The Guardian, HELLO magazine, The New York Times & TIME magazine - which published his portrait tribute of Barack Obama.
