I was born in Québec, Canada, studied Applied Science and then joined the Canadian Air Force in 1983. I spent 12 years as a transport pilot in the Air Force and travelled all over the world.
I started a new career from scratch in 1995 as a software developper and IT consultant and ended that second career as a Senior Director at Avanade (a subsidiary of Accenture) 13 years later.
In 2008 I decided to leave the rat race and the cold weather behind. I quit my job, sold everything and moved to Panama where I built a very unusual tropical home in the rain forest. To keep myself occupied I created Palmex Panama and RanaWeb (see links below).
I'm a secular humanist and I am very outspoken when it comes to religion, international politics and the environment. I am socially left of center and fiscally right of center, which means that by American standards I am an evil communist. ;)
I'm also an avid fan of jazz and of British humour, a serious amateur photographer and a true lover of science and nature. I speak English, French and Spanish (sort of).
I'm still happily married to my lovely wife Diane after 22 years.
