Have you ever looked at a piece of technology and wondered how its designers figured humans would actually use it?
Or looked at a bunch of people using a piece of tech and wonder how they feel about it, and what it enables for them in their daily lives?
I do this. All the time.
That curiosity, that drive to know, that will to understand.
This is why I'm a social computing researcher and educator. I'm passionate about making sure that technology fits a real need and makes a difference in the lives of real people.
I don't design for elites - I work on projects that make the everyday life of ordinary people just a little bit better.
I'm currently an Associate Professor of Social Computing and HCI at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. I lead the human experience design graduate program, and the undergraduate concentration option for user experience design.
I teach human-centered design, design thinking, qualitative research methods and social theory for designers
