I am a Sansei/Pinay writer and editor, originally from Northern California and now living in the Pacific Northwest. My writing has appeared or will appear in Edible Seattle, The Seattle Star, The San Francisco Chronicle, Discover Nikkei, The International Examiner, Kartika Review, Seattlest, and the Rafu Shimpo. I taught university classes in writing, humanities, and multicultural American literature. I received my degrees in English from UC Berkeley (BA) and from the University of Washington (MA, PhD). I've received awards from the Ford Foundation, the University of Iowa, the Asia Pacific Fund, the University of Washington, and the National Japanese American Citizens League (JACL).

I'm currently working on a memoir, a novel, some food writing, and other essays on my blog, Kikugirl. Please stop by there and visit!
