Studied engineering at Caltech and then moved to study ocean engineering at UCSB. Did a brief postdoctoral stint at WHOI in nearshore processes, including the Nearshore Canyon Experiment at Torrey Pines Beach in 2003.  Started shortly after that at OSU as a manager of the O.H. Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory and have been studying physical models of waves and the coast ever since.  Academic interests revolve around this work with researchers from all over the world.

Created Santa Barbara Surfing back as a UCSB graduate student.  It is now at its own domain.

Love mountain biking in the local forests around Corvallis, hanging out with my wife and three birds, and going out to great restaurants.
