Tyler Daniel Rountree

Twenty Eight Years,

I'm currently an undergraduate in the field of political science at the University of St. Thomas. I have achieved junior status and plan to continue my studies in the hopes of achieving a Masters of Liberal Arts in Political Science with a constipation in Public Administration. Now that I have discussed one of my immediate short term goals, I must share with you what has led me to this point.

During my tenure at Holy Ghost Catholic School I encountered a nun that changed my life. One afternoon in the spring semester I was jolted by a text book hastily passing with in inches of my face. I know i'm not the "Bees Knees" when it comes t looks, but I knew at my early age I enjoyed what I was originally given. The nun preceded to tell me "I was incapable of learning and would never amount tot much in life." Later that afternoon my mother, the nun, and I had a warm parent teacher conference. It was 45 minuets of my mother threading my teacher "the nun" for (in her words) tossing a book at me. My mother had my back and I'm glad to say "the nun " was wrong.

In 1997 I started working in veterinary medicine (animal medicine) under the guidance of a small animal veterinarian in River Oaks. I gathered as much knowledge as I could. I was a sponge and glad for it. My knowledge of veterinary medicine eventually me to Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist, I worked at the Animal Emergency Clinic 610 as an exam room technician. My knowledge progressed to the point were I was able to move upstairs to internal medicine then eventually Critical Care. I was set! I made the transition to a small failing Animal Emergency Hospital in Sugar Land.

I became the practice manager of the Animal Emergency Clinic - Sugar Land after 4 weeks and a long battle for the position. My lesson in life and management starts here and I'm only 21 years old. I exposed the wrong doings of some of the veterinarians and technicians. The management at the time decided to start with a clean slate. I started in a clinic that was 50% done in revenue for the year (it was June) and I only had 4 veterinarians, 4 technicians, and 1 receptionist. We made the endeavor work, I don't know how...

(Will finish soon.)
