Terence J. McCarthy

A longtime business owner, Terence J. McCarthy serves as General Partner of TJM Properties in Clearwater, Florida. Featuring multiple divisions, TJM Properties owns and operates 19 retirement communities in Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida. The company also owns and manages four Florida hotels and continues to acquire and redevelop real estate throughout the state. Presently, Terence J. McCarthy and TJM's lodging interests consist of a Howard Johnson, Baymont Inn and Suites, Quality Inn & Suites, and Belleair Beach Resort.

Terence J. McCarthy established TJM as a real estate enterprise in 1979, and five years later, he entered the senior living sector. Over the past three decades, he has overseen and guided the company's growth, which has included the purchase and rehabilitation of more than 850 properties, ranging from apartment buildings to single-family homes. Terence J. McCarthy and his staff have focused particular attention on St. Petersburg, Florida, where they bought their first independent living complexes. They went on to purchase two more properties in St. Petersburg and continue to operate The Princess Martha, which features 118 units in historic downtown St. Petersburg.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Terence J. McCarthy contributes as a board member to multiple local organizations, including the St. Petersburg Junior Tritons basketball club, Bon Secours Health System, Club M Foundation, and an area police athletic league. He also enjoys skiing, cycling, and golfing. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Terence J. McCarthy studied business administration. He began his college studies at the University of North Florida, where he earned an Associate of Arts degree. A talented athlete, he played basketball for the university on a full athletic scholarship.
