I've been creating all my life and I've loved it all from fingerpaints to the jewelry and mixed media art I now create. The Creative Soul was so named because creating comes from my soul, was given to my soul by God and fills my soul with goodness and joy.

HOW THE CREATIVE SOUL CAME ABOUT: I faced a major change when I had to stop working as a children and family therapist due to chronic health issues. While I thoroughly enjoyed being at home with and for my children, as they grew up I really needed to feel productive. That's when I began experimenting with mixed media and altered art. Then I was asked by a shop owner that carried my work to create jewelry...I gave it a shot and loved it. So did others!

HOW I MAKE MY JEWELRY AND ART: Part of the fun of creating my jewelry and art comes from finding little treasures to use. I go to flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales, auctions, antique stores, etc. I like to look at things in a new way. Hardware? Typewriter parts? Industrial bits and pieces? No problem to make that into jewelry! And I LOVE vintage and antique! The history of these old things makes them so special. I combine the old treasures with new pieces...it's this joining that seems so unique to me. At the same time, it's what we do in our lives, right? Taking the best of the past, add what's going on now to make a promising future.

In the last several months I have refocused on mixed media art. I wanted to learn new skills and grow as an artist. I still enjoy mixing old and new, but not with every piece I make. I keep two art journals...One is for whatever I want. I try out new mediums or techniques or create pages that express what is inside me or happening in my life. The other is part of Art to the 5th Academy's Documented Life Project (DLP) where we receive art and journaling prompts each week, along with a monthly theme, and planner pages to document life. I'm having so much fun! I've also started making stand alone art and sell it in my etsy shop.

I like to turn things "from bits and pieces to artful creations" as I say. Please visit my online store at :
