Thomas Drance

Currently a full-time hockey writer based in Toronto, and the editor in chief of the Nation Network of hockey blogs.

As a freelance hockey writer and reporter I've contributed to the Vancouver Province, The Vancouver Sun, The Sporting News, Vice Canada,, and Yahoo! Sports' Puck Daddy blog. I have covered games at the OHL, AHL and NHL level for a variety of outlets and have covered the NHL draft twice.

I have two years of professional experience as a full-time blog runner for the Nation Network. During that time I built up the most trafficked independent Canucks blog on the internet (; from a dormant property into a revenue generator with a large and engaged community.

I recently spent 18 months working as a full-time hockey news editor with theScore, where I specialized in mobile-first NHL news content. In addition to running the NHL desk, I produced advertorial custom content for brands like Captain Morgan's, Universal Pictures, Werner Ladders, and Frank's Red Hot.

I was theScore's lead hockey news editor covering men's and women's ice hockey during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, and I produced the highly lauded 'Unique Team Traits' series with Justin Bourne during the fall of 2014.

In 2009, I graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
