Thomas Giancristiano

Thomas Giancristiano has dedicated many years to the field of public education. From his beginnings as a Social Studies teacher, to his time as a School Principal and later a School Superintendant and a Supervisor of Student Teachers, Mr. Giancristiano's career in education has encompassed a broad spectrum of experiences.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 from Boston College and earning a Masters in Education from Boston State College in 1974, Thomas Giancristiano went on to receive a Certificate of Advanced Educational Studies from Boston College in 1993.

In 1971 Thomas Giancristiano formally began his career in education as a Social Studies teacher in the Boston Public School system and soon after became the Social Studies Curriculum Coordinator. During this time, he oversaw the Social Studies curriculum for all of Boston's middle schools. In 1995, he took a position as Administrative Assistant, and remained in the Boston Public School System until 1996.

Subsequently, Mr. Giancristiano assumed the role of principal of Winthrop Middle School, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, until becoming School Superintendant for Winthrop Public Schools in 2000. During this time he managed the school district resources, created a strategic plan and a vision for the future of the school system, and managed the $14 million school system budget. He remained in this position until 2005. Currently Mr. Giancristiano serves as a Supervisor of Student Teachers at Northeastern University in Boston. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, working out, playing bocce ball, and cooking.
