Thomas Kosmo

An accomplished classicist and well-known public intellectual, Thomas Kosmo brings more than three decades of experience to his current position as the founder and president of The Mentor Group. The nonprofit organization, which Mr. Kosmo founded in 1983, generates and facilitates a public dialogue about the ideas of justice and political economy in the business sector. In his leadership role, Thomas Kosmo oversees policies and raises funds for the organization. He also directs the Forum for EU-US Legal-Economic Affairs, one of the groups chief initiatives.

Mr. Kosmo earned his bachelor’s degree in the classics from Bowdoin College before going on to complete his doctorate in the classics at the University of Edinburgh. His doctoral dissertation was later published under the title “Pindar as a Poet of Religion: A Study of the Role of Apollo Selected Pythians.”

Outside of his professional role with The Mentor Group, Thomas Kosmo belongs to several clubs, including the Scottish Arts Club in Edinburgh, the Savile Club in London and the Cosmos in Washington DC. A major supporter of the arts and in conjunction with his tutelage at Mentor Group, Mr. Kosmo is patron of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
