Timothy Gillespie

Born in Sylva, North Carolina, Dr. Timothy Gillespie attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, where he majored in chemistry and earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1986. Following graduation, Dr. Gillespie worked three years as a Chemist for the nonprofit Southern Research Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1989, he decided to enter the School of Dentistry at the University of Alabama.

Upon receipt of his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1993, Dr. Gillespie opened a practice in Asheville, North Carolina. Three years later, he merged his office with another dentist, who later left the practice. In 2008, Dr. Richard Dimsdale, who had previously operated his own office in Sylva, joined the office of Dr. Timothy Gillespie. Today, 10 other employees assist the two dentists, including four dental hygienists, three certified dental assistants, and three office support staff.

As a practitioner of restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentistry for the past 18 years, Dr. Timothy Gillespie performs an array of procedures and services, from dental crowns and porcelain veneers to periodontal and endodontic treatments. In keeping abreast of the latest developments in the field, Dr. Gillespie has accumulated more than 1,000 hours of continuing education in dental techniques and technology. Dr. Gillespie also has made three trips to Honduras, two of them as a team leader, for the purposes of supplying volunteer dental services to residents there.

On the first visit to Dr. Timothy Gillespie's office, a prospective patient usually will undergo a 90-minute comprehensive exam that includes a health history, oral examination by a dentist, X-rays as necessary, and scheduling of a subsequent cleaning appointment.
