Timothy Romano

A principal, teacher, and policy maker, Timothy Romano has led an extensive career in the field of education. In his first professional position, he worked for Arin Intermediate Unit 28, in Shelocta, Pennsylvania, as a Special Education Teacher, as well as a Boys’ Basketball and Football Coach. In this role, Mr. Romano gained his first experience with implementing programs and policy as he developed Individual Education Plans, specialized for students with varying levels of disabilities.
After four years at the Arin Intermediate Unit 28, Timothy Romano moved to Virginia and spent a year working for the Norfolk Public Schools, in a similar position. In 1989, he began his career with Virginia Beach City Public Schools where he would work for a decade as a special education teacher and Administrative Dean. He dealt with youth in various grades in the district, including the elementary, middle, and high school levels. During his 10-year tenure with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Timothy Romano also served as an Assistant Principal. He led faculty meetings and implemented and developed policy. He worked on a wide variety of tasks, ranging from everyday operations, to managing others, to serving on school committees.
In 1999, Timothy Romano acquired his first employment as a Middle School Principal for the Frederick County Public Schools in Winchester, Virginia. In this position, he maintained a master schedule and oversaw all school operations. He also coordinated award programs and outlined goals for the school, teachers, and students.
The following year, Timothy Romano served again as a Middle School Principal, this time in Pulaski, Virginia. His duties involved a blend of administrative, managerial, educational, and financial work. In 2001, Timothy Romano relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, where he became a Middle School ESE Teacher/Specialist/Administrator. He has also served as a District Exceptional Student Education Coordinator in Naples, Florida and Principal, in Sarasota, Florida. He is currently serving as Principal at a public therapeutic day school that provides services to students at all grade levels with emotional and intellectual disabilities. In addition to working full-time, he is also pursuing his Ph.D. from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida, specializing in Educational Leadership and Special Education.
