In 2006 I was in graduate school and dating a girl I wanted to introduce to my family across the country.
YouTube had just launched and I thought making videos would be a perfect way to do it.
Today we would call them "vlogs," but back then "vlogs" wasn't a word. It was just being awkward in public with a camera.
Shortly after that, other people started to watch, which freaked me out a bit, so I started digging into YouTube to figure out how these people were finding my videos, why they were watching us, and what kept them coming back for more.
After reaching about 1 million people per month with our vlogs, in 2011 I became the first creator to start training YouTube creators how to reproduce those results.
My company, Video Creators, has been featured by FOX, Forbes, BBC, and even by YouTube themselves. I've done YouTube strategy for brands like Disney, HBO, Budweiser, eBay, Warner Brothers, television stars, and new creators alike, helping our clients organically earn over 20 billion views and 100 million subscribers.
On September 1, 2022, my agency was acquired by vidIQ, giving us an opportunity to coach millions of creators on YouTube and spread even more messages that change lives.
Oh, and I married my girlfriend. We now live in Cincinnati, Ohio, with our seven children. Boom!
