Tomas Diaz de la Rubia

An expert in the energy industry, Tomas Diaz de la Rubia earned his bachelor of science and a PhD in physics from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Tomas Diaz de la Rubia joined Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) as a post-doc in 1989, and by 2002 had advanced to senior management roles within the laboratory.

As deputy director and chief research officer for science and technology at LLNL, Díaz de la Rubia built a partnership with the Howard Baker Forum, an organization that examines issues and public policies affecting the nation domestically and internationally, and he worked with the Bipartisan Policy Center and other organizations to develop the National Summit on Advancing Clean Energy Technologies, at which he served as a panel chair. Bringing together energy technologists and computational professionals, the conference served as a platform to create policy recommendations for maintaining the United States’ lead in the use of high performance computing in the energy sector.

Today, Diaz de la Rubia is the director of Deloitte Consulting LLP, where he continues his work in energy innovation by managing relationships between clients and technology providers, and through developing strategies to commercialize technology.
