Tonia Marchesiello was born in South Italy, Campania Region. She faced Goethe’s trip at the age of one year the other way round going up to the mouth of Germany, Nuremberg, Munich and Erlangen, for then to undertake a great personal tour toward Italy, where she returned at the age of 24. Tonia started her career as an amateur singer at the age of four and as a professional singer at the age of fourteen. She sang with school bands as well as with many other class mate musicians for various events which took place in Nuremberg, Erlangen and Munich. She grew up bilingual German/Italian and she also learnt from her very earliest years the English language by listening to the American radio of Nuremberg, a city with an historical and permanent U.S. presence, and where she grew up with American children. She improved her French language not only by studying it during her school years, but mainly during her journeys to France by singing many of the best known French Chansons. Tonia has sung, amongst others with the Mark Sherman Quartet on 2008 at the “Round Midnight” Jazz Club in Fisciano (SA), Italy. Further, the booking and the organization of the above gig was entirely performed by Tonia Marchesiello.

Tonia also performed during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2005 in some collateral events, with the Salerno Jazz Orchestra. Paul Jeffrey, during one of his workshops held in Naples, strucked by her voice, chose her between a forty musicians for a performance with him, during which she sang some of the most beautiful jazz standards as ‘Summertime’ and ‘Round Midnight’.

On 13th July, 2010, Tonia sang ‘Round Midnight’ in a duet with Bobby McFerrin at Palazzo del Belvedere, San Leucio (CE), Italy, during the jam to which she and a few other singers where invited. She studied piano with M° Renato Costarella, studies which she’s still taking forward by her own. Further, she’s studying guitar with M° Pierangelo Mugavero and collaborating with many combos and many other bands. On 2nd and 3rd July, 2015 she has participated as a vocalist at the Jazz Festival “Contaminazioni Jazz”, which took place at the Conservatory Domenico Cimarosa, AV – Italy. Here she’s also studying and refining her being a jazz singer and musician. She writes her own songs in German, English, Italian and Neapolitan language as well. ✈ ♪ Europe-based, available worldwide for music collaborations ♪ ✈
