Torben Bernhard

When I was eight years old, I found a dusty typewriter in my grandfather’s basement, taught myself how to type, and wrote my first story. Since that day, my natural urge to communicate has led me to a string of diverse, but loosely connected areas in storytelling, such as performing in detroit-based hip-hop group Mental Elastic Dynasty (mentalelastic.tumblr.com), writing awful poetry, social media and ultimately landing in the area of documentary filmmaking, all of which my dreamer theatre parents have supported. On my quest, I have traveled to eighteen countries in the last five years and married my best friend. My first documentary film, “The Sonosopher,” premiered at Cinequest International Film Festival and begins distribution through Dream Garden Press in December 2011. The last nine years of my life have been split between Utah and Bangkok, Thailand. I was on the design team for the 2010 Reinvention Summit (world's first virtual conference on storytelling) and am a Story Fellow for Getstoried.com. And I talk Thai.

OHO Media

The word "OHO" is a commonly used expression in Thai to convey wonder. It's comparable to the word "woah" or "wow" in English. OHO Media is a documentary production company that seeks to make films that emerge from the transcendent moments in everyday living. We are currently working on "The Lost and Found Series," a set of four mini documentaries on the theme of lost and found. From ghost towns to garbage collecting in Thailand, we are exploring what it means to lose something and what we can potentially gain from finding it again.
