I was born and raised on Long Island, New York, then moved to Colorado where I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Colorado, and a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. I have taught high school English, History, and P.E. for the past sixteen years, and in this time have also taught as an adjunct professor of English at the Community College of Denver. I currently teach English in Albuquerque after teaching abroad in Colombia for four years. My passion is not so much to teach classes, but to teach people. I believe that I can create world-peace by starting in the classroom and modeling social responsibility, love, compassion, and kindness to every person with whom I come in contact. I believe happiness cannot be found without because each of us already carry it inside, and we need only reach deep. But I'm not just a high school teacher from New York. Because I have been blessed with a myriad of talents, I seek to explore my full potential by using these talents to reach and connect with others. Since the age of 15, I have taught and coached swimming and have enjoyed using the medium of water to help people truly experience their bodies. I have been a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Diver since 1997, though I have dove with my father, a NAUI Certified Instructor, since I was a young girl. I have been a member of USA Triathlon since 2004 and have completed four 1/2 Ironman races, and I finished Ironman Arizona in November of 2013. In 2012, I participated in a 30-day Dzogchen meditation retreat to deepen my mindfulness and meditation practice.
