Mr. Bernier is from New York City and has a B.S. degree in Geology from CUNY at York College. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill and earned an M.S. degree in Geology. Mr. Bernier has accomplishments in Earth Sciences, and Technology. As a hydrologic tech with the USGS National Water Quality Assessment Program in North Carolina, and as a Hydrologist in Miami, FL. In 1997, he was offered an opportunity with Western Geophysical Europe/Africa operations. The experience gave Mr. Bernier a global perspective on technology and society. Sadly, the 1999 petroleum slowdown meant a return to Miami and a new start.

With the recent experience, Mr. Bernier started Silicon Beach Group and taught at Miami Dade College and Florida Memorial University at night. Within a few years, he hired many of his students. Amidst his desire to continue doing cutting-edge research and management he took his web of business contacts to the EU and started a technology business. Using powerline communications, he produced several tech solutions. He and several partners created Ekoplc, S.L. Based in Palma de Mallorca, Mr. Bernier was a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. Projects were deployed in Spain, Canary Islands, Egypt, Dominican Republic, and Turkey. Even though we won the most innovative company in the region, change came in 2007 by the economic downturn. In 2009, he was asked to help the USGS with field operations and provide expertise in instrumentation, programming, and hydrology. That autumn he and the research team presented a project at the AGU Annual Conference. Mr. Bernier present's nearly every year.

Mr. Bernier has a passion for filmmaking and photography. His film "Planet X part two: The Frozen Moon" was a hit. Not only the first Sci-Fi film produced in Florida, but it is the subject of Brooklyn Underground friends Josh Koury, Miles Kane, and Trisha Barkman documentary film "Journey to Planet X" which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was a global sensation and is the catalyst for many Sci-Fi films today. Using fame and fortune from the doc, Mr. Bernier decided a way to give back is to create a Sci-Fi film festival celebrating "like mined" fantastic filmmakers. In its fifth year, the festival is one of the most successful and competitive in Florida. Currently, Mr. Bernier is a Geosciences doctoral candidate at Florida Atlantic University with a focus on water isotopes and their use to define source waters within the hydrologic cycle.
