Tanya Selvaratnam

Born in Sri Lanka and raised in Long Beach, CA, I am a writer, an actor, a producer, and an activist and the Communications & Special Projects Officer for the Rubell Family Collection. I am the author of The Big Lie: Motherhood, Feminism, and the Reality of the Biological Clock. My writing has appeared in Vogue, Bust, Paper, xoJane, Huffington Post, Pop and Politics, the Toronto Review, Art Basel Magazine, the Journal of Law and Politics, on Women’s eNews and CNN. I have produced films and projects by directors such as Chiara Clemente, Catherine Gund, Mickalene Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, and Jed Weintrob. As an actor, I've toured around the world in shows by The Wooster Group and The Builders Association, among others. As an activist, I've worked with the Third Wave Foundation, NGO Forum on Women, Ms. Foundation for Women, and World Health Organization.
