I approach the world asking what can I make it do, not what is it. I've been paid to hack on computers for nearly a decade and a half and have been a tinkerer for much longer.

I've written two books on Git, Pragmatic Version Control using Git (the first book published on Git) and Pragmatic Guide to Git (the first in a new series from the Pragmatic Bookshelf).

I live in Austin, Texas, and am the Director of Technology for the Texas Tribune a non-profit media organization. We make Texas politics and policy more accessible, relevant, and better reported for the state's citizens and provide a blueprint for how media organizations can sustain themselves.

I'm easy to find online. I'm online just about everywhere as @tswicegood.
