Tunde Folawiyo
Dedicated to the continued prosperity of his native Nigeria and the African region, Tunde Folawiyo has held various roles key to his mission of fostering education, economic growth and the spread of philanthropy. Through his work as a renowned business owner, board member and accomplished scholar, Tunde Folawiyo continually contributes a wholehearted support to his country’s success.
Born April 12, 1960, Tunde Folawiyo continues to serve as a revered entrepreneur and proponent of Africa’s education system. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, as well as an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Law, from the London School of Economics. He was also awarded an honourary doctorate degree in Business Administration from Crescent University in Abeokuta. Tunde Folawiyo’s esteemed academic accomplishments contribute toward the fostering of Africa’s youth. He currently serves as a member of the Global Advisory Council of the African Leadership Academy, an institution dedicated to economic growth, political stability, eradication of poverty and diseases throughout Africa. With this role and his membership of the Duke of Edinburgh’s World Fellowship, a global network of esteemed philanthropists promoting youth development, Tunde Folawiyo continues his ongoing dedication to Nigeria’s future growth.
As an honoured recipient of the 2010 African Business Leadership Award, Tunde Folawiyo continues to make great strides in the economic growth of the region. He is the current CEO and Group Managing Director of the Yinka Folawiyo Group of Companies, a thriving conglomerate with global business interests in the areas of oil and gas, agriculture and real estate among others. Tunde Folawiyo also founded Folawiyo Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of the Yinka Folawiyo Group. The company embarked on the construction of a world class petroleum storage facility in Lagos, Nigeria in 2004 and is currently responsible for the throughput of approximately 30% of premium motor spirit in the Nigerian market today. In addition to his valuable role in exploring the region’s lucrative energy sector, Tunde Folawiyo also holds a heavy devotion to strengthening Africa’s relations with other global allies. As a Goodwill Ambassador and Honourary Consul of Barbados, Tunde Folawiyo serves as one of Africa’s most highly regarded socioeconomic leaders and entrepreneurs.
