Tyler Wiegert

Saint George, KS

I graduated from Kansas State University in the fall of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.

It is my dream job to become an MLB scout so beginning in December 2013 I started the Baseball Scouting and GM course through Sports Management Worldwide. My mentors are MLB experts Larry D’Amato and Dan Evans. My training has included: the MLB collective bargaining agreement, sabermetrics, MLB scouting techniques, scouting reports, draft analysis, player evaluation, MLB general manager practices and statistical analysis formulas. I am looking to break into the baseball industry as an associate area scout.

In March 2014 I started an internship with the Idaho Falls Chukars, the Minor League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. I finished in mid September after 7 months of great learning and experience. As an intern I was involved in all aspects of the front office, including but not limited to: corporate sales, game day operations, public relations, marketing, ticket sales & operations, group sales & hospitality, media relations, promotions, and financials.

I have demonstrated success in sales of both corporate sponsorships and group events. I secured the $2,500 sponsorship of Rosemark Women Care Specialists for Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the ballpark. They sponsored the pink game day jerseys and the jerseys were then auctioned off afterwards for local and national women’s charities. I also assisted in maintaining a current Just 4 Kids Club database for prospecting new leads and was involved in all on-field promotions, which included theme night planning and execution.

I was responsible for programs to be sold at each game. This included the procurement of all ad copy as well as design and layout of program.

I learned and operated TicketReturn Software that included designing and processing ticket sale orders in person and over the phone. It involved handling cash, checks and CC orders and closing each game night.

Other duties included preparing the infield skin, bullpens, and tarp handling. Assisted in batting practice setup as well as game preparation and all field related events.

I have an eagerness to learn. Strong ability to problem solve and take initiative. I am positive, punctual and professional with the ability to work efficiently in unsupervised settings.
