Originally from Malaysia, Vivian Eng obtained her BSc (Honours) in Psychology from Dalhousie University in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She spent two years living in the basement of the Life Sciences Centre researching brain, language, and making games before switching gears to pursue a PhD at the University of Nottingham Malaysia. Using eye-tracker and EEG in graduate school, she studied an obscure visual attention phenomena that most people would never have heard of.

Somewhere along the way, Vivian met a boy, fell in love, and is now setting roots in Halifax again. She has been learning tons working at a startup on the development of a head-mounted device used in glaucoma diagnoses. No, not the puff test.

Vivian is a proud nerd and geek (think Whovian, Lord of the Rings marathons, preparing her CV in LaTeX, and all things Sci-Fi). She tries to teach her two furballs tricks when procrastinating on writing, and loves occasional adventures out of the city, travelling, and table-top RPGs.

Vivian is an intensely curious person who loves science, making visualizations with R, communicating ideas with data, and is not intimidated by UNIX. Get in touch to say hi, ask for a free plant clipping, or simply to distract her from Veritaseum videos.
