Larry Warner

Citywide Democratic Candidate for City Council in Cranston, RI

Back my campaign

Hi - my name is Larry and I am running for Cranston City Council - Citywide. My vision is that every Cranston resident has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their race or ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality, income, ability status, veteran status, or which part of the city they live in.

I understand the experience of families trying to find a healthy work/life balance while paying the bills, caring for an older adult, and raising children in an increasingly fast paced society. With two children in Cranston elementary and middle schools, and one a graduate of Cranston H.S. West, I know the importance of a quality public education, and understand that the quality-of-life needs of our residents vary across the city.

My priorities are to:

1) Listen to, represent, and address the needs of all Cranston residents. Everyone should be able to have a voice in the decision making process, especially our most vulnerable and marginalized neighbors.

2) Ensure access to and investment in a high quality educational system throughout the city. In partnership with the School Committee, we have an obligation to provide Cranston's youth a world-class 21st century public education. Also, every parent and youth who want access to a quality after school or summer learning program should be able to access it.

3) Promote inclusive economic development. Cranston should be supportive to small businesses, attractive to big businesses, and inclusive of women and minority-owned enterprises. Organized labor should be part of the discussion of how we grow our city's economy.

4) Ensure our public safety workforce is ready for tomorrow’s emergencies, today. Cranston's firefighters and police officers should have the equipment, apparatus, and training needed to safely protect those who work, play, and live here. We must also strive to build a workforce and pipeline of talent that reflects the rich diversity of our city.

5) Promote equity in our city. Cranston should be a city where every resident has the opportunity to comfortably and affordably live, learn, work, play, and enjoy their golden years. This is true no matter who they are, which neighborhood they live in, or who they know.

I look forward to several conversations in the coming months. I’d be happy to speak with you, your organization, and/or your group to learn how I can serve you.

You can reach me at [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Larry Warner
