Warren Procci

Warren Procci, M.D., Ph.D., is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA School of Medicine, the 64th President of the American Psychoanalytic Association, and Vice-Chairman of Wagner College's Board of Trustees. Dr. Procci also practices privately with an office in Pasadena, California, and holds a certification as a psychiatrist from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Warren Procci is licensed to practice in Wisconsin, New Mexico, and California.

Warren Procci's experience in his discipline spans over three decades. Over the years, he has focused on how theoretical and clinical psychoanalysis can help patients, not only in his own practice and academic publications, but also in his faculty positions and through his involvement in the governance of both professional associations and academic institutions.

Dr. Procci began his long career at Wagner College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1968. From there, he trained to become a doctor at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Before taking up a fellowship at the University of Southern California, he interned and did his residency in Madison. In 1984, Dr. Procci received his Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis from the Southern California Institute of Psychiatry in Beverly Hills and would later join the Institute as a faculty member, President, and member of the Education Committee and Board of Directors. He has held similar positions at the Newport Psychoanalytic Institute in Tustin, California, and with the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles. Dr. Procci also serves as a board examiner with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

In his private practice, his publications and teaching, and his leadership positions, Warren Procci advocates for the benefits of psychoanalysis and "Talk Therapy." He has also published on using pharmaceuticals to treat patients who suffer from a variety of mental as well as physical ailments.
