A finance executive with nearly three decades of experience in investment banking and private equity, Wes Edens has built a record of accomplishment as the co-founder of both Newcastle Investment Corp. and Fortress Investment Group LLC in New York City. Following receipt of a bachelor of science in business administration and finance from Oregon State University, Wes Edens joined Lehman Brothers, where he served as partner and managing director for over six years. Mr. Edens later began a successful tenure as a partner and managing director of the asset management firm BlackRock Financial Management, Inc. In 1998, after a year as a partner and the managing director of the United Bank of Switzerland, Mr. Edens co-founded Fortress Investment Group and quickly turned the firm into a recognized name in investment management.

Originally created as a private equity firm, Fortress Investment Group expanded substantially under the leadership of Wes Edens and his partners, as it came to encompass other areas of alternative and traditional investments. Today, the NYSE-listed firm consists of a highly diversified selection of investments, with four core business units: private equity, credit, liquid markets, and Logan Circle Partners, the latter of which provides traditional asset management services.

As co-chairman of Fortress and head of its private equity business, Mr. Edens oversees a wide range of private and publicly traded portfolio companies, from real estate holding and management firms to international gaming organizations. Among these, Mr. Edens serves as the co-chairman of real estate investment trust Newcastle Investment Corp., which maintains significant interests in senior housing properties, collateralized debt obligations, and more.
