Jerome Stanley

Leading sports agent Jerome Stanley has devoted much of his free time to making the Los Angeles metropolitan area a better place to live and work. As Commissioner of the Los Angeles Board of Recreation and Parks, Jerome Stanley provides oversight to a department that employs 8,000 workers and manages recreational facilities, including museums, swimming pools, golf courses, lakes, campgrounds, historical sites, and more than 400 parks. Equally involved in the governance of the city’s airport system, W. Jerome Stanley was named Vice President of the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners in 2004. Appointed by Mayor James Hahn, Mr. Stanley and his fellow commissioners oversaw an annual budget of more than $1 billion. As a part of the Board’s leadership, he supplied policy direction to the three city-owned airports: Los Angeles International, Van Nuys, and LA/Ontario International. For many years, Jerome Stanley focused his energy on strengthening the region’s economic base. He sought to boost tourism through his involvement with the Los Angeles Convention Center Commission. As a part of that organization, he assisted in the management of the marketing, business affairs, and financial operations of the Los Angeles Convention Center. Mr. Stanley also sought to attract a National Football League (NFL) team to Los Angeles as a member of the Executive Council of New Coliseum Partners. Raised in Los Angeles, Mr. W. Jerome Stanley gravitated toward sports management due to his desire to advise up-and-coming athletes. As the owner of Stanley & Associates, now known as SAFE Sports Management, for 22 years, he has achieved several milestones in his field. He set a new record as the first African American agent to represent the nation’s top NFL draftee. He also secured one of the highest professional basketball contracts permitted under NBA (National Basketball Association) “maximum” regulations. Over the course of his career, Mr. Stanley has negotiated deals totaling over $500 million. Providing legal representation, management, and marketing services to players in the NFL, NBA, and Women’s National Basketball Association, Jerome Stanley has advised some of the nation’s top athletes.
