Worldwide 45s

Hello, my name is Lowell and I suppose I'm a record collector. I say I suppose as i'm not sure exactly where the distinction is made between someone who simply buys records and a collector. My moment of realisation or acceptance came when my bank account was frozen due to "suspicious activity" after I purchased a rare soul record from the jungles of Indonesia. It is quite difficult at this point to argue that your behaviour is rational but I was reluctant to embrace the title of "collector" due to the stigma attatched to it. For me it conjures up images of hermetically sealed limited editions, never to be played and failing marriages put under strain with obsessive behaviour - the kind of obsessive behaviour that could have been channeled towards a pristine stamp collection or a notebook crammed full of names and models of various trains. But as soon I drop the needle on a spinning peice of black wax any of these notions quickly fade away and I realise i'm never happier than when immersed in the pops, crackles and grooves of some of my favourite music.

The concept for Worldwide 45s came about after I spent the best part of 2 years travelling without my precious records and had to deal with the hole in my life that they left. MP3s served a purpose for that time but they are essentially methadone to an addict so I decided that wherever I ended up in the world i'd never be without a bag of records and a deck to play them on. I hope you enjoy the music and the tales I share and feel free to get in touch.
