We do not see reality, we see the image our brain makes of reality. And in doing so our brain can be mistaken in the most beautiful ways! Right there, in that ‘wrinkle in our perception’, is the playground of the artist.

Wouter Koek van Egmond is my name. I make sculptural work: objects placed in relationship to a space and to oneanother, referring to what I call 'the void'. My theme: 'Melancholia as a form of metaphysics', one could say.

In the end, it is always about us, human beings: wonderful accidents of nature, in all our grandeur and all our tragedy...

I am self-taught; I continue to work on technical and thematical improvement and enrichment.
