To prepare for his career as a family nurse practitioner, W. Bryan Sims earned a BS in nursing from the Medical College of Virginia and an MS in nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Serving as a nurse practitioner for a number of years, he later enrolled at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he secured a doctor of nursing practice (DNP). While working on his DNP, W. Bryan Sims led as the chief medical officer of Southeast Texas Medical Associates, which he helped transition into a Patient Centered Medical Home. He was additionally responsible at the facility for implementing evidence-based medical practices and assisting with inpatient care.

In 2011, W. Bryan Sims obtained board certification as a family nurse practitioner and assumed his current role as the director of hospital emergency services at Winnie Community Hospital. In this capacity, he oversees the emergency department’s budget and manages personnel and the patient flow plan. Along with his administrative duties, Sims performs as a staff provider for the outpatient clinic and the inpatient family medicine division. His efforts at the hospital have resulted in a strong emergency medical services (EMS) interface that serves all of Chambers County.
