Youssry Henien

Middle East-based business leader and Dubai Youssry Henien passionately supports and follows the sport of polo, as a counterbalance to his professional pursuits. Youssry Henien comes from a family with strong ties to international thoroughbred horse racing, and during the last two decades has traveled the globe to watch some of world’s greatest polo players perform in major matches. He shares this interest in polo with his son, Harry Henien.

In 2012, Youssry Henien and his son announced the launch of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Polo Club Directory, an international directory aimed at increasing public interest and awareness of the sport and its historic ties to the Persian Gulf region. The GCC Polo Club Directory and its creators hope to encourage development of the sport in the six nations that belong to the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, also known as the Gulf Cooperation Council. The website features information on the origins of polo, which dates back as far as the 5th Century B.C. when Persian soldiers played the sport as a training aid. GCC Polo Club Directory also includes recent news on the sport from around the world, a listing of matches taking place in GCC countries, and contact information for polo clubs throughout the Persian Gulf.

In addition to his love of polo, Youssry Henien enjoys building his business operations in the Persian Gulf / west africa. The recipient of a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the American University of Beirut, Among his previous professional achievements, Youssry Henien managed a Saudi Royal Family Office in Saudi Arabia and he opened and served as the majority shareholder of Egypt’s fourth largest stockbrokerage, Egypt Trust Securities, before selling the financial enterprise.
