Zachary Petkanas

Zachary S. Petkanas has served as the senior communications advisor for the Nevada State Democratic Party and Senator Harry Reid’s Searchlight Leadership Fund; he previously performed a similar function for Senator Reid’s office and the Friends for Harry Reid fundraising committee. In all of these roles, Zachary Petkanas developed and implemented aggressive communication plans, served as a media liaison, addressed crisis situations, prepared Senator Reid for public appearances, and supervised staffs of up to 10 people.

Zachary Petkanas studied political science at The George Washing University, earning a bachelor of arts in 2006. Prior to his involvement with Senator Harry Reid, he worked for several members of the House of Representatives, beginning with Representative Hilda L. Solis, who hired him shortly after his graduation to serve as her DC scheduler. In 2007, he became the press secretary for Representative Louise M. Slaughter, as well as for the House Committee on Rules, which she oversaw as chairwoman at that time. Zac Petkanas subsequently served as the communications director for the successful election campaigns of Representatives Ann Kirkpatrick and Kathy Dahlkemper.
