My name is Brian Keith Banks, I am a 5th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and a Personal Trainer for Fit-Defense MMA. I have been diligently studying the martial arts for the past 40 years. I began my Taekwondo journey in 1984 and was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt in 1988; which I also started to cross train in Jeet Kune Do and Aikido. I received my Taekwondo Instructor Certification in 1989 under GM Robert Hardin and I have been cross training continuously in Kali/FMA, Muay Thai, Boxing, Savate, Japanese Jiu-JitSu and BJJ. As a competitor, I have competed numerous times in Taekwondo tournaments throughout the United States and in the sport of Mix Martial Arts. After receiving my black belt, I began training Individuals in Taekwondo both privately and in group classes in the Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas, and Arizona regions; and I was a part of GM Whitlow’s M.A.T.C. Demo Team. However, In 1994 my focus and direction as a Taekwondo Instructor transitioned to becoming more of a Personal Trainer, with a strong focus using Mix Martial Arts as the main engine and drive in the fitness/martial arts industry. Therefore, I became a Group Ex Instructor with Larry North Fitness Centers & Bally’s Total Fitness, where I led numerous individuals in a group setting format, with a strong emphasis on martial arts in helping people become more fit, confidant, and strong minded. Then in 2015, I was promoted to 4th Degree Black Belt and in 2021 to 5th Degree Black Belt, under 9th Degree Black Belt, Grand Master Brad Whitlow of Juk-Ahm. During which I began my Gracie Jiu-JitSu journey and along with my wife, we were both promoted to Blue Belt’s under Professor Victor Emanuel, of Gracie Barra in 2023. As a Personal Trainer, with a strong background in the martial arts, I can specialize using MMA elements in shaping people's lives, through the importance of Fitness for overall health and well-being, while teaching them valuable Life Skills in Self-Defense, through a more well rounded approach utilizing Mix Martial Arts. Combining all three making a person more complete and confident in themselves, with it’s sole purpose of developing a Warrior Mindset of a complete lifestyle centered around Health, Fitness, Self-Defense and Peace Of Mind.
