Carlos Sierra first got his feet wet in politics as an intern for the John McCain for President Campaign during the 2000 presidential election. For the next ten years, he continued to work for Senator McCain in Tucson, Washington, Phoenix, and Tempe, as well as campaign offices where he handled community outreach, constituent services, and various policy matters such as immigration reform, rural affairs, and natural resources. For the duration of the 2008 election cycle, Carlos traveled to most major primary and caucus states on behalf of the McCain campaign, helping the senator to capture a come-from-behind victory in the primary election. Carlos then went on to become the Southwest Coalitions Director for McCain-Palin 2008.

Most notably, Carlos served as the National Field Director for the Gary Johnson for President Campaign. Sierra oversaw ballot access in all 50 states and D.C., planned all political rallies and events for Governor Johnson and Governor Weld, oversaw all advocacy groups and coalitions, oversaw field and grassroots including the ground game in all 50 states, volunteers, and field staff, and oversaw the distribution of merchandise.The 2016 election cycle was the Libertarian Party’s most successful in its history, resulting in the Libertarian’s highest vote total and percentage of the vote in history.

Now the President of Sierra Public Affairs and a partner in Renegade Public Affairs, the firms operate as full-service consulting firms which work with candidates and committees of all parties, as well as spearheading reform-oriented initiatives across the country.
