Known for her illustrious voice and smooth tones that are reminiscent of world renowned artists such as Nat King Cole and Sarah Vaughn, prepare to be wooed when vocalist Cassandra Allen hits the stage! Raised in the small town of Jackson, Michigan; Allen grew up immersed in music with her family being mostly comprised of musicians. The beat of a gospel tune or the operatic sounds of Kathleen Battle filled the air and left Allen yearning for more. She was inevitably inspired by these sounds and knew that she was destined to be an artist.
At just the tender age of 12, Allen’s musical adventures begun after she won her first show at the legendary Apollo Theatre in NYC. After that pivotal moment, she went on to perform with Grammy Award winning choruses and countless shows and eventually was led to studying classical voice. Allen became enamored with the stage while studying classical voice and garnered roles such as Roxanne in “Cyrano”, Sylvia in “All Shook Up”, and Zerlina in “Don Giovanni.” Shortly thereafter she won the emerging young artist competition in Michigan. Throughout the years, Allen’s voice has allowed led her on excursions to perform in various places across the globe, including Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic, and Most Recently Spain. Expanding her repertoire to include Jazz, Allen set her sights on establishing her name in Spain and had the opportunity to perform at the highly esteemed Jazz Club, Jimmy Glass in Valencia. Currently, Allen is a Strathmore Artist in Residence 2015-2016 in Bethesda, MD. Stay tuned! There is more to come from this budding starlet!
